Tuning a CRT can be daunting, but where do you start. Often all that is needed is tuning the brightness and contrast. This is the simple process I follow when starting to tune a CRT.
- Disconnect video input/signal
- Turn down brightness & contrast on chassis & remote board pots
- Adjust screen/brightness pot on flyback to where rastor lines just disappear
- Reconnect video input/signal
- Adjust brightness on chassis to ideal level; further fine tune with remote board pot
- Adjust contract on chassis to ideal level; further fine tune with remote board pot
There is a rabbit hole of tuning you can do with CRTs, but this is a good start to getting the brightness level set. In a lot of cases, may be all that is needed.
